Team Development Process

Team Development Process

Improving the ability of a group to work optimally together can include the following steps:

  1. Data Collection: We conduct individual, confidential interviews with all members of the team to obtain their views of the team, including ways they believe the team can improve. All team members complete a team assessment that measures team effectiveness.
  2. Data Analysis: We compile, assess, and analyze the interview data, and develop an executive summary report for presentation to the team leader and the team. A proposed team building retreat agenda (typically ranging from one to three days) is developed for the team leader’s review.
  3. Data Feedback: The executive summary report is presented to the team leader for feedback and review. During this meeting, the team building retreat date and agenda are finalized.
  4. Team Building Retreat: The team building retreat is held. The topics, exercises and activities in the agenda are determined by the issues raised during the Step 1 data collection phase.
  5. Follow Up and Accountability: The team ’s action plan includes a series of follow-up actions and activities identified by the group.
